New Camalot Prodigy Dispense Platform

Franklin, Massachusetts, USA – The Camalot Prodigy dispensing system employs breakthrough innovations to enable higher processing speeds, more precise dispense accuracies, and tighter tolerances. Prodigy is a new platform, equipped with a state-of-the-art X Y gantry system that is at the heart of this next generation dispenser. Linear drive technology, refined motion control architecture, and a rigid, innovative frame design enable fast point-to-point moves at 1.5g of acceleration. Prodigy offers an impressive XY dot placement accuracy of +/-30 microns @ 3 sigma at full system speed for an unmatched level of performance.

Closed-loop controls facilitate a “hands off” setup and allow continuous monitoring of process parameters. All options are “plug-and-play”.

Dual head configurability allows dispensing of two different materials within one process. Both Z-axes are independently and accurately controlled. When identical pumps and materials are configured on both heads, synchronous mode operates both pumps simultaneously and reduces dispense time by approximately 50%. Advanced optics and powerful processing algorithms allow for sub pixel definition maximizing the capability for locating fiducials and component/pad edges, a key component of system accuracy. The material handling system allows for up to 2 conveyors with 3 independent staging zones each. Prodigy also offers an innovative board staging option that can double the dispense area in the X direction, allowing product of >900mm to be processed.

Prodigy can be equipped with the revolutionary new NanoShot™, a closed-loop dot-on-demand pump. Its patent-pending dispense technology operates at high speed - Up to 600 Hz – capable of dot sizes < 300 microns. Proprietary software controls calibrate the pump, enabling single shot accuracy of dissimilar material volumes with a single hardware set and no manual adjustments. Suitable for especially challenging dispense and underfill applications with the full range of today’s electronic materials, NanoShot is a low maintenance, high-performance pump characterized by quick changeover (ideal for high mix environments) and a low cost of ownership.
